Dumbledor had long past. Most thought the school would suffer. True, some of the teachers did leave the school, which saddened most, but mostly everything went on as usual.
A new Headmaster (or shall I say...Mistress) took to the stand, overlooking her students for the coming year.
"It has been three years since Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry had closed from dear Dumbledor's death. We all knew it would come - yet had a glimmer of hope that it would not. I tell you, my students, that the school was closed - not because of the old Headmaster's death - but because Hogwarts needed to be freshened, needed a change. And, while I know this forced all the older students to find new places to get their schooling, there are most of you who come back to the school new this year, and I welcome you," she paused for a moment, watching all their faces.
So young, so pure. Their faces were pale against the candlelight that hung above their heads by gentle magic. They looked to her with respect enough to listen, but she knew she would have to gain their trust, their turn-to for guidence, just as Dumbledor had proved himself.
"So," she began again, "Like always, as there has been at Hogwarts for centuries, there is a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher this year!" she let out a slight laugh, tossing some of her long, auburn hair to the side. "However, there are many new teachers, as you can see the many new faces here behind me. And, I will not be introducing them all - not out of disrespect, but for your curisity. You will meet them soon enough. But classes haven't started just yet, so you know. A new something I have programed at Hogwarts - a few months before they start. And, you still get to keep your summer. I don't know how long this will last, but for this year, at least. But for now - I welcome you all back to the school, and enjoy your feast. Then, off to your dormitories! There will be no rule-breaking your first day, my students." She let out a small smile, then retreated back to her giant chair with the teachers, and began speaking to some of the newer ones.
The Great Hall, which had once been silent as an owl in the daylight, was now alive with commotion. Everyone was speaking in warm tones and with merriment, which made the new Headmistress, Professor Stoella Tero, alive with glee. Golden plates and goblets appeared with countless treats for everyone to enjoy, and I'm sure everyone just DUG IN! Yaaay!
