HARRY POTTER INTERACTIVE - A ROLE-PLAYING INTERACTIVE SITE
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Because we ALL cried secretly when we did not recieve our very own acceptence letter.
Opening - IMPORTANT:
Harry Potter, Hogwarts, and all distinctive likenesses thereof are either copyright or registered trademarks of Warner Bros., J.K. Rowling, and/or their respective owners. This is a fan created RPG, which is meant for the entertainment of Harry Potter fans, no copyright infringement is intended. Ideas created by THIS site and the members of this site are also subject to copyright.
HARRY POTTER INTERACTIVE IS DIRECTED TOWARDS TEENS (starting age: 13) AND UP. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK THIS PAGE TO SEE THE LATEST CHANGES IN HARRY POTTER INTERACTIVE'S RULES.
Rules, Terms and Conditions:
Harry Potter Interactive was created by Harry Potter fans for fans to discuss/role-play in a CIVIL matter. I spend months of my time creating, maintaining, promoting, and revising the site, and THAT should be respected. Harry Potter Interactive cannot be held responsible for the actions of a user. We encourage a relaxed, censor-free atmosphere to discuss/role-play and do any other activities that concern this site. Action will be taken for an uncivilized manner of playing.
1. You must provide a valid e-mail address during the registration. If you do not provide us a valid e-mail address, and you violate any rules, you will be sent to azkaban, or expelled (account suspended permanently) immediately.
2. You may have more than one user-name on this account, however you must make it known to us through e-mail. E-mail on this subject can be sent to (stoellatero@sbcglobal.net) the Headmaster of the site, Stoella Tero. A PM message can be sent also, but I would like it better if an e-mail would be sent.
3. While we encourage lively debate, we do not encourage ignorance or foul words. Anything such as this going on in the school area will be violated with a warning, and if it continues, sent to Azkaban. This will not be tolorated. However, in the "Grounds" section of the site, outside the castle, this rule does not apply, as long as the words are used so that they do not harm another person in an emotional way. We will not tolorate attacks. If a member is being attacked, we should be informed, and the violater will be sent to Azkaban.
4. Racism and discrimination WILL NOT BE TOLERATED WHAT SO EVER. This includes the use of "gay" or words relating to the homosexual sexuality in a submissive or attacking manner. Problems in this area will result in DOUBLE TIME in Azkaban. Harry Potter Interactive promotes respect throughout all areas of the forum. There should be no reason that we cannot have a safe, emotionally stable, happy enviorment to play a game (for that is all this is, a role-playing game of fantasy).
5. Acting in an uncivalized manner results in time in Azkaban. There is no need for this, and it is hands down, disrespectful.
6. This is a site for Harry Potter fans for TEENS and up; Any material posted on Harry Potter Interactive must not contain pornographic images, extreme content, reference to drugs or sex, foul language, or attacks. Time in Azkaban is the result.
7. While curse words aren't allowed the words "Crap" and "Darn" are allowed. However, this rule does not apply to the grounds area, as long as attacks aren't made.
8. We strongly enforce these rules. When doing so, Moderators/Prefects should NOT be argued with. They have read this over, just as you should, and there should be no arguing in the manner of the rules and regulations that you SHOULD be clear on.
9. We hold the right to send you to Azkaban or expell you from Hogwarts if any rules are not agreed with.
10. Do not use ALL CAPS in any thread title, it is never needed, only in rage, and we don't need that here on Harry Potter Ineractive. Any thread with a title posted in all caps will be deleted. Do not use punctuation such as: hEy wHaTs Up. This kind of punctuation can only create annoyance among everyone. We reserve the right to delete or lock any posts or threads such as these examples.
11. You may include a signature in your posts, but be aware that it should be kept fairly short. Your signature should be no more than 200 pixels tall and/or 2 small graphics. If it does not meet these regulations, you will get a warning and we hold the right to have it deleted.
12. Characters should be in some sort of reality. Rolling dice is held highly here. This being said, no "catching arrows" or randomly dispelling any spells.
13. Cheating/Hacking, attempting to hack, anything even pertaining to using someone else's account or trying to cheat or hack this site is strictly forbidden. You will be expelled, and we will report you to your ISP. If such happens that you are aware of, please let our administration know. We have ways of reporting you, and tons of sites that support this, so do not think we can't do it.
14. You understand that our staff will occasionally send emails to its members when there is a major site update or for other reasons pertaining to an individual's account.
15. Harry Potter Interactive cannot be held responsible or guarantee that files a user may give you are free from infection or viruses, worms, Trojan horses or any other code that manifests contaminating or destructive properties. YOU OPEN THESE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
16. Advertising for other Harry Potter websites is forbidden. If such a thread, post, or message is found doing so, it is subject to be deleted.
17. Spamming is not allowed. By spamming/floating we mean:
a) Do not make some useless answer to every thread on a page just to be able to see your own name all over that page or putting your thread at the top.
b) Do not submit a thread more than one time. Submitting it several times is not allowed.
c) Responding with simply "lol" or "ok" to a post is considered spamming.
d) Do not owl several people that you don't know asking them to rp, visit your profile/website etc. Abuse of the multiple sending is not allowed as well. All of the instances listed are considered spamming.
Spamming will be punished with a temporary suspension from the site - time that will be spend in Azkaban. Excessive spamming will not be tolerated. If spamming continues after you are out of Azkaban, you will be expelled.
18. NEVER give your password to ANYONE. An administrator does not need you telling them your password as well. IN THE EVENT THAT PASSWORD PROBLEMS OCCUR, try contacting us through the contact page. We also STRONGLY urge people not to give out personal information anywhere on the site and reserve the right to delete/remove any personal information. Examples of "personal information" are, but not limited to: email addresses, phone numbers, street addresses, social security numbers, driver license numbers, etc. This is a rule so Azkaban time may apply to the breaking of this. You never know to who you are talking - so please be careful.
19. While we appreciate the caring of raising funds for someone, it will not be tolorated here due to the fact that everyone is not always truthful. To make sure no ones feelings are hurt, this is not allowed, however messages saying such as "Hope you feel better" are completely encouraged.
20. You are not to let anyone on your account under any circumstances. If you are going away for awhile and need someone to look after something such as pets/store/dormitory/event you can just ask someone to do so.
21. Usernames can be anything you wish them to be, however you must make sure that in your profile page your "Display Name" is the name of your character, First and Last, and we would appreciate a middle name or middle letter as well. This is so we know of who we are speaking of. By using character names, it gives a better identity to ourselves and makes ourselves more personal - more interactive - and that's what we are all about here on Harry Potter Interactive.
22. Moderators/Prefects are chosen by ME, Stoella Tero, Headmaster of Hogwarts on Harry Potter Interactive. You may not ask to be a mod or prefect, you will be chosen, and if you accept, you will be changed to that title. However, even as mod or prefect, you are still one of MY members, which means disagreeing with me when I am trying to enforce rules means time in Azkaban for you and your title as mod or prefect taken, and no reinstated until after a five-month period. To make you a moderator or prefect and then to have to suspend your account is unacceptable in my standards as a mod or prefect, and so I would think you wouldn't deserve the title after punishment.
23. Usernames (more-so display names) cannot consist of Harry Potter characters, such as Draco Malfoy, Hermoine Granger, Ronald Weasley, or Harry Potter, of any of the Professors, or fantasy characters of their children. Having children of these characters is not making them "godly" as I listed above, but it is making them special, giving them high characteristics, and not that mods or prefects are special, but the only difference they have from normal members is that they can enforce rules. We want everyone to be as equal as possible here on Harry Potter Interactive.
24. You CANNOT request a house. Houses are as basically randomized as possible. Once you get your house, I am sure you will find that the other members of your house to be very fun to talk to. No, you cannot change your house later, either.
25. We are trying to find a way to change this, but as of now, gender is accessable to everyone. This is bad, however, because this shows us the status of your account, and so we ask that you DO NOT touch your gender, except to choose either "male", "female", or "undisclosed". Your gender is basically your blood type and we are trying to make it so that it is no longer under "gender" but for now, this is all we have. By having your gender as either "male", "female", or "undisclosed" shows us that you have not been sorted yet, which helps us to sort you faster, so please do not touch the gender drop-down menu except for the regulations we have specified.
26. Just as discrimination in real-life is not tolorated, we especially do not need it in Harry Potter Interactive of our own creation! What we mean by this is, please do not discriminate others if they are not "pureblood" like you might be, or call anyone a "mudblood". This is attacking within our own home, that we brought upon ourselves, and this is definitly not nessessary. Harry Potter Interactive was designed so that each member would feel unique, but not excluded from anyone else - everyone has their own things to bring to the table, but no one is better than the other.
* * * * *
If you violate any of these rules, your message/post/material may be deleted, you may be sent to Azkaban, or your account suspended permanently and, in the case of hacking etc., possibly reported to your ISP and/or local law enforcement agencies. We reserve the right to execute any of the listed punishments WITHOUT NOTICE.
Closing
THESE TERMS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT GIVEN NOTICE. WE RESERVE ALL RIGHTS TO ACT AND PUNISH BY THESE RULES WITHOUT CONSULTING THE USERS FIRST. (ADMINISTRATORS, HELPERS AND GLOBAL MODS) BY BEING ACTIVE AND A PART OF HARRY POTTER INTERACTIVE, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO FOLLOW THIS DOCUMENT AT ALL TIMES AS STATED RIGHT HERE. LET IT BE KNOWN THAT EVERYONE MUST FOLLOW THIS DOCUMENT. IF YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS CONCERNING THIS DOCUMENT, PLEASE CONTACT "STOELLA TERO", HEADMASTER AND ADMINISTRATOR OF THIS FORUM.
-- To make sure that no confusion occurs, you now MAY respond to this document, however it must be a question or comment on how to make this document better for everyone and must be logical enough. Any pointless replies will be deleted, and you will recieve a warning. This document is not to be played with, for it is the ground foundation of the role-playing home known as Harry Potter Interactive. I do not need new members or guests scrolling down seeing useles, goofy answers. Thank you, and I encourage responses to this. --
